Pretoria Golf Club Verified listing

Pretoria Golf Club – formally known as “Pretoria West” – is not only the oldest golf club in Pretoria, but it was the first club to allow female players to join. Officially the club was born on Tuesday 2nd May 1894 when the first official meeting was held. A nine hole course was established within a month. The official opening took place on the 9th of June 1894.

The Club moved around in Pretoria a few times but is on the same layout now in Philip Nel Park for the last +/- 45 years. It is a Parkland Course with the well-known Skinnerspruit running through the course.

Many well known golfers like John Fourie long time Club Pro and S A Open winner as an Amateur, Retief Goosen US Open winner, David Frost Million Dollar winner, John Bland, Andries Oosthuizen, Devonne Botes and other professional golfers were Club Champions at the Club.

The Club has approximately 450 members, but there are new membership “specials” currently available.
